Collaboration is key
STEM Foundations

This year in STEM Foundations, I grew in collaboration. To me collaboration is a very important skill used in everyday life. Collaboration is also very important here at the Dayton STEM School, and I will be using 2 artifacts and explaining them to prove that. My two artifacts will be collaborations logs from the storybook project. I will be explaining how I was before in the project, and the end of the project, explaining the growth that took place.
My first artifact is the collaboration log from the first half of the storybook project. This artifact shows how I rated myself with a partner on a 0-10 scale. This project required a lot of work, and we needed to make sure we were on task, accomplished something, and our responsibility over the story book folder. We needed to be focusing our attention on using wellness concepts, a circular ending, and putting craftsmanship into our storybook to be goofing off, not accomplishing tasks, and not being responsible over the storybook folder.
This artifact shows how I grew in collaboration because I rated myself with a partner on what was followed through on our plan for the day. First, we had to collaborate on what our plan for the day was, then we collaborated at the end of the day to get an idea of what was accomplished, then we rated ourselves based on that. During this half of the storybook project in the beginning, my scores weren’t that high because I got off task very easily, and wasn’t that responsible over the storybook folder. As time passed however, I got better at collaboration and following through with expectations.
My second artifact is the collaboration log from the second half of the storybook project. This artifact shows how I rated myself on a 0-10 scale with a partner in terms of on task, accomplishments, and responsibility of the storybook folder. This artifact shows how I grew in collaboration because, I had to collaborate with my partner on what needed to be done, and how we were going to do it. We also collaborated at the end of the day to see what we actually got done. We rated each other based on what we had gotten done, and our responsibility over the group folder. During this half of the storybook project, my scores were much higher because I was now more educated in collaborating, because I used this skill a lot during the project, and was my peers using the skill a lot as well. So, I was able to follow through with our plan for that day.
I need to further develop the skill of collaborating by putting it to practice, or using it in my everyday life. This will help the future me because I wanted to become a game developer when I grew up, and they need to use collaboration with the other members of their team.
