PROJECTS

STEM is the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. All STEM schools try to focus on these subjects as prime factors in their students’ educational experience. Education here at Dayton Regional STEM School, or DRSS for short, combines this focus with five necessary qualities, inquiry, creativity, collaboration, persistence, and communication, through project based-experiential learning, which is essentially learning terms or other things of the sort through projects, or project-based learning. Basically, students strive to develop these 5 traits while completing assigned projects. Why? Because when you use what you learn to complete a project, you show you have really learned the skill.  At STEM, we believe showing what you can do through these projects is much more effective than taking end of course assessments. Why? Because this is the way it works in real life and the way that DRSS sets itself apart from other STEM schools is in how it prepares its’ students for the real-world.
