How I excelled
While I may not have done so well in other classes before, I always prided myself on how well I excelled in math. Going into ninth-grade, I was determined to keep this trend going. However, this course was not just about solving an equation, doing your homework, and passing the test. The course really tested your understanding of terms, and most of all persistence. This course has always kept me on my toes with assignment and project, after assignment and project. I think two artifacts that would help to show how we were tested in these areas are the Concept Map, and Aleks Pie Pieces. The concept map not only tested our understanding of terms, but also wanted us to see how each term is connected with the others, and to be able to explain our way of thinking about this. Then there was the Aleks Pie Pieces. While it was true that it was mostly just equations and stuff, that is not what I found kept me on my toes. It was that there was an extreme amount of them so much so, it tests how you managed time, and your persistence. If it is anything that has allowed me to constantly succeed in this area, it is how I see things, how I think. I am not as creative as others because I do not want it requires more than analytics; math is mostly numbers, and numbers make sense to me. I find it much easier to work with numbers than a paintbrush or something. In group projects, I find it even easier to see because different minds see things differently. So, while you see a problem one way, your partner may see it another. That is why I love math. While it makes sense, with the way people see things, there are endless possibilities.
